A weekend in New Town

The short answer

Spend Saturday at Eco Park and Biswa Bangla Gate, and Sunday slowly: the pool, Rabindra Tirtha or the malls, and a late lunch at Peerage. Eco Park is closed on Mondays, so keep it for the weekend. Distances from the hotel: TBC.

The pool and its canopy in late golden light, palms behind.

Saturday: the park and the Gate

Swim before breakfast, then eat at Peerage. Spend the afternoon at Eco Park (the toy train, a boat on the lake), with Mother's Wax Museum opposite if anyone wants an indoor hour.

At dusk, go up Biswa Bangla Gate, the 55-metre ring over Biswa Bangla Sarani. Its glass gallery looks down the road, and the restaurant inside serves lunch from 12 to 3 pm and dinner from 7 to 10 pm. Book both ahead.

Sunday: slow, then the shops

A long breakfast, a swim, then Rabindra Tirtha, a cultural centre in Action Area I dedicated to Rabindranath Tagore, Bengal's Nobel-winning poet. In the afternoon, Axis Mall or City Centre 2, which has a four-screen INOX cinema.

Come back for a late lunch at Peerage before you head home. Ask about a late check-out when you book TBC.

The weekend at a glance

If your weekend runs Sunday to Monday, do Eco Park on the Sunday: it closes on Mondays.
